Classes & who they suit

Here's how the class types differ and who each one is for.

Flow Yoga

Suitable for all levels (Beginners to experienced practitioners)· 60 min

Suitable for all levels (Beginners to experienced practitioners) In our Flow Yoga class, we blend movement, breath, and mindfulness. Suitable for all levels of practitioner, we give modifications and encourage you to tune into what your body needs. Flow classes will vary depending on each teacher's unique experience and personality. You can expect a well-paced flow with enough challenge to meet you where you are. The focus is on connection of movement to breath and cultivating presence. You can expect to walk out feeling more clarity in both body and mind.

Slow Flow Yoga

60 min

A slower paced class that gives you more space to inhabit your practice. Time to get present with your breath. Slow Flow will vary with the style of different teachers, sometimes more restorative, sometimes with more flow and challenge.

Yin

60 min

Yin yoga is a practice of long passive holds. It targets our joints, ligaments and bones through the energetic super highways of the body - the Meridians of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the connective tissue of fascia. It offers us the opportunity to find quiet contemplation while immersed in a deep body experience. Note: Postnatal - We recommend that you wait until at least 3 months postpartum to attend Yin classes. Yin classes will work deeply on stretching ligaments. In the first few months after pregnancy, the focus should be on bringing your body back into strength and stability. Please come along to Foundations of Flow or Slow classes. If you have any questions, call us on 0419 295 803.

Mysore (Ashtanga Yoga)

120 min

In a Mysore class a teacher works with students individually to build their own yoga practice, at their own pace. This allows a practice to be tailored to a students needs. There is an emphasis on mindful breathing and moving. As the class works on memorisation, it is recommended students come minimum 2 times per week. Students can arrive anytime between 6–6.30am Please finalise bookings by 12am midnight. Our regular cancellation policy applies - late cancellation penalties apply for cancellations made less than 10 hours before class starts.

Bodhi

50 min

Bodhi means awaken in Sanskrit. The Bodhi Suspension Method is designed to awaken your deepest muscles through activating the righting reflex in your body. This is an exercise system designed for core activation and strength building. You can expect a whole body work out. This is *not* aerial yoga. Bodhi is very different and the focus is on using the ropes to awaken your system. No fancy tricks. Note: Due to the small class sizes, please book early and cancel early if you need to.

Iyengar Yoga

The Iyengar Yoga method focuses on the precision and alignment of poses and is a systematic approach to yoga. With the consistent practice of Iyengar Yoga, unconscious habits and patterns are replaced with deliberate, conscious actions to overcome imbalances and restrictions. It is a practical, challenging and therapeutic method of yoga, which can be practiced by anyone regardless of age or fitness. What to expect? Iyengar Yoga classes use detailed instructions, yoga props and hands on assistance to bring you into a sequence of yoga poses. You can expect to take time to prepare and set up some poses, with the teacher's assistance and adjustments to tailor the set up for you. Each pose takes time to enter and you can expect to spend some time in each posture to feel the effects on your system.

Ashtanga Sanskrit Led - 90 mins

Experienced practitioners only· 90 min

Experienced practitioners only, please. Not a beginner's class. This 90-minute class is based on the Ashtanga Primary Series. Familiarity with the sequences is required as Sanskrit is used to lead the class. It’s also preferred that students are experienced with Mysore practice. Please silence all phones to minimise disruptions and arrive before 7am for the opening chant. Bookings to be made by 12am midnight. For any questions feel free to email yogawithvu@gmail.com.
